Oklahoma Baptist University recently announced the appointment of Beverly J. Glover as vice president of university culture. Glover has served as interim vice president for the past two years. She is the university’s first African-American to serve on the executive cabinet.

The Shawnee City Commission received good news during the meeting Tuesday, Jan. 17. Sales tax and use tax are up. City Finance Director Lindsay McNabb-Fox reported that, year to date, the city is 14 percent ahead of budget and six percent over this time last year. The January collections are 10.

Kickapoo Tunnel (Jefferson School Tunnel) Closed For Maintenance

The City of Shawnee recently performed necessary maintenance on the Kickapoo Tunnel, which is commonly known as the Jefferson School tunnel which children use to access the school. The tunnel is located on the north side of the intersection of Kickapoo Avenue and Ford Street.
