During the monthly Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education meeting held Monday, May 9, Superintendent Robert Kinsey announced that Assistant Superintendent Brandi Burks has been chosen as the Oklahoma Association of School Administrators (OASA) District 9 Assistant Superintendent of the Year.

Relay For Life Returns After Covid Causes Two-Year Hiatus

After a “two-year hiatus” due to the pandemic, the Relay for Life was back to raising money for the American Cancer Society in Shawnee. The event was held at the Heart of Oklahoma Conference Center on May 6, and its theme was superheroes.

Bethel Asked To Look At Dress Code

Monday’s May 9 Bethel School Board meeting included several approvals, as well as a request to reevaluate the district’s dress code. Discussion and approval was made on revisions to the High School/ Middle School Student Handbook and the Elementary Student/Parent Handbook for 2022-2023.

Four Tornadoes Tear Through County

Pottawatomie County had four confirmed tornadoes on Wednesday, May 4. All four were in Commissioner Eddie Stackhouse’s district. Stackhouse said he saw one as it came very close to his home near Maud, but he was out checking the damage as soon as it passed.

Master Gardeners Plant Sale, May 7

The Multi-County Master Gardeners in cooperation with the Pottawatomie County OSU Extension Office will hold their Annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 7th, 2022. The plant sale will be held in the parking area of the Pottawatomie County OSU Extension Center, 14001 Acme Road, Shawnee, OK.
