On Wednesday April 13, 2022, Gregory Hardin filed to be a Democratic candidate for District 26 in the Oklahoma State House of Representatives which consists of Shawnee, Bethel Acres, Dale, Johnson, Earlsboro, McLoud, and Tecumseh in North Central Pottawatomie County.

Shawnee Approves Joint Bid On Bonds

The Shawnee Board of Education voted to approve the joint low bid from the Bank of Oklahoma and Vision Bank at an interest rate of 2.85% on the sale of $865,000 in Taxable Building Bonds during a special meeting held on April 7.

SHS National Honor Society Inducts 26 New Members

Twenty-six new members were inducted into Shawnee High School’s National Honor Society chapter during a recent ceremony. NHS President and SHS Senior Lorelei Brem welcomed the new inductees and parents before introducing guest speaker Dr. April Grace, superintendent.

Two Bethel Teachers Were Finalists For State Education Award

On Monday, April 11, Bethel Middle School teacher Reda Marcussen was having a “very good day.” The previous Friday, she had attended the Professional Oklahoma Educators Foundation “Excellence in Education” Awards Banquet, where she was presented the Junior High Educator Merit Award.
