STATEWIDE CANDIDATE FILING BEGINS April 13th

Statewide election activity officially begins at 8 a.m., Wednesday April 13, 2022 when the filing period opens, the Secretary of the Patricia Carter County Election Board said today. Candidates for state offices file with the Secretary of the State Election Board.

Former owner of the Countywide News, Cloyce Wiley died last week, on Tuesday, March 30. He and his wife, Orinne, owned the Countywide News back before it combined with the Shawnee Sun to make the current Countywide & Sun.

City Commission Recognizes National Donate Life Month

Not a dry eye was left in City Hall on Monday night of April 4 during city commission. Mayor Ed Bolt made a proclamation stating April 2022 will be known as “National Donate Life Month”. This proclamation however, was followed by a sweet sentiment.

Campbell Celebrates Five Years As Owner

Suzie Campbell will tell you “how the cow ate the cabbage.” The owner and publisher of the “Countywide and Sun,” Campbell said she comes from a long line of strong women, including her mother, Joyce Stiles.

OBU Theatre Presents ‘On The Verge’, Apr 7-10

OBU Theatre will present the adventurous comedy “On the Verge” April 7-10. Evening performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. April 7, 8, and 9. A 2:30 p.m. matinee will conclude the show’s run on April 10. Performances will take place in the Craig-Dorland Theatre inside Shawnee Hall.
