The Internationa Finals Youth Rodeo wrapped up July 15 at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center in Shawnee. The event wouldn’t have been possible without the 600 volunteers who helped plan and run one of the largest rodeos in the country.
A 1932 Oldsmobile "Hupmobile" Series F222 glints in the summer sun during the City of 5 Nations Downtown Auto Show & Shine in downtown Shawnee on July 16. The car is owned by Louis Hopper, of Tecumseh, who said he bought the car in June 1987, has done all the welding and mechanic work, and has driven it since 2003. Countywide & Sun/Natasha Dunagan

The City of 5 Nations Downtown Auto Show & Shine brought out 178 registered vehicles and several that did not register for their third annual event in downtown Shawnee on July 16.

Oklahomans can’t seem to catch a break this summer. June and July have delivered skyrocketing gas prices and record-breaking temperatures. While prices at the pump have decreased for five straight weeks since they peaked in mid-June, Oklahomans are not completely out of the woods yet.

Shawnee Approves Receipt Of $750,000 Grant

Approval was made at the Monday, July 18 City Commission Meeting to receive an Oklahoma Public/Private Partnership (P3) Program grant for a total of $750,000 from the Oklahoma Development Finance Authority.
