Throughout his life, Navy Veteran Henry Watters has been in several battles. He fought for his country in two tours of Vietnam. He has gone many rounds fighting cancer for his life and that of his wife and daughter.

Shawnee Police Officer Arrested

On Nov. 10, 2023, the Shawnee Police Department released a statement that Officer Gary Moore had been arrested and booked into the Pottawatomie County Public Safety Center (PCPSC). SPD stated Moore had been terminated from his employment.

Camera Equipment Donated To Bethel Yearbook Program

Richelle Treece has spent many years taking photos of the kids at Bethel School and kept her website free for downloads so parents could have those memories. But now her kids are grown, and she is working full time, but she doesn’t want the kids to think she has forgotten them.

Veterans Day Celebrated At Schools And Memorial Park

Veterans Day was celebrated a day early at schools in Bethel, Tecumseh, and Shawnee, since Nov. 11 landed on a Saturday this year. The Bethel Veterans Day Program was held at the newly renovated B.E. Cantrell Fieldhouse at 9 am.

Three different areas of Pottawatomie County held elections Tuesday, Nov. 14. With anywhere from 500 and 8,400 registered voters in each of the areas, the turnout was extremely low. Only one proposition passed, while the other proposition and the school bond issue both failed.

GF Central Breaks Ground On New Plant Facility

Expanding its footprint in the City of Shawnee, Georg Fischer Central Plastics broke ground Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, for a new 150,000-squarefoot manufacturing facility at 41401 Wolverine Road.

Emergency Management Receives New Mobile Command Center

The Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners handed over keys for the new Mobile Command Unit to Emergency Management Director Chad Larman on Tuesday, Nov. 14. Larman said this is the first one in the state where you can fly the drones from inside.
