Two Dead After Head-On Collision On Hwy. 9

A head-on collision claimed two lives Friday, Nov. 10, east of Skagg City Road, outside of Tecumseh. Oklahoma Highway Patrol closed Hwy 9 just after noon. The Highway remained closed until approximately 4 pm.

City Of Shawnee Approves Letter Of Intent For Abatement Grant

The Shawnee Board of City Commissioners held a special meeting on Monday, Nov. 6, and approved the submission of a Letter of Intent to submit an Opioid Abatement Grant Award application. In 2020, Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes, § 30.3 through 30.8, created the Opioid Abatement Grants Act.

Second Annual Beef Quiz Bowl Awards Top 12 Test Takers

The Second Annual Pottawatomie County Cattlemen’s Association Beef Quiz Bowl was new and improved this year. Those placing in the top 12, instead of 10, received cash prizes between $400 and $2,700. Plus, free granola bars and bottled water were available in the lobby.

Daniel Matthews was awarded the Living United Nonprofit Director of the Year Award for the United Way of Pottawatomie County’s (UWPC) A Hero’s Masquerade last Friday evening, and the nonprofit Live United Director of the Year was revealed.
